"The Kiddush Man" A Short Film in Israel (Video)

This is a short art film— about 10 minutes long— about a boy attending synagogue with his father and his interactions with a man that he would rather avoid. It is a nearly wordless story but somehow manages to convey a message worth receiving. This award winning film is set in Jerusalem, Israel.

The older man— Mr. Katz— is sitting in front of memorial. The name on the memorial is also Katz— a man who who died in the Six Day War, 1967. Was it a brother?

At first I didn't think that this little film had any relevance to the topic of this forum, but then I was touched by the ending. The boy at first did not connect with Mr. Katz— it was clear that he would rather avoid him. But, in seeing the man's sadness the boy connected with him— in his childish way he found compassion.
